Sai Baba Condition Remains Critical


Puttaparthi (Andhra Pradesh), April 5 (IANS) provided spiritual leader Sathya Sai Baba on Tuesday, remains critical, as hundreds of eager devotees continued to pour in from different parts of Andhra Pradesh and other states.

Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Medical Sciences, where Sai Baba is in treatment from 28 March, has remained off limits to the devotees as police imposed a ban on the pilgrimage city orders to meet any eventuality .

Sources close to the Sathya Sai Foundation said Tuesday that Sai Baba's condition remained critical.

Tension gripped the city since Monday night, when doctors who were attending for the first time he confirmed that it was essential that vital systems are not responding properly.

As the agitated crowd of devotees tried to storm the hospital and attacked vehicles of some senior officials, the hospital issued a statement late to pacify.

UNSafaya hospital director said that although the condition is essential to Sai Baba, who were using every possible medical intervention and there is no reason for anxiety. He called on the faithful to pray for his recovery and not try to enter the hospital.

As the news spread of the critical state of Sai Baba like wild fire, the devotees began to gather outside the hospital.

'There is no clear information on the status of Bhagwan (god). We want to see, "said a devotee of the agitation.

Police deployed forces outside the hospital as devotees from abroad began to arrive last night.

The angry devotees stoned the car of Anantapur district collector Janardhan Reddy.

Anticipating more trouble, a police official said the PA system that Sai Baba is stable and there is no need for anxiety.

The spiritual leader of 85 years old, was admitted to the hospital March 28 with pneumonia and respiratory problems. Doctors also implanted a pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat.

During the past three days, he is in the ventilation to help breathing and aspiration of secretions from the lungs and in CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) system to support the functioning of the kidneys.

Sathya Sai Baba, whose real name is Sathyanarayana Raju, had stated in 1940 that was an 'avatar' (incarnation) of God.

He became famous with his miracles, but for the last two decades, has focused on social and charitable work.
