Egypts Ex-President Detained For Investigation

CAIRO-Egypt attorney general announced Wednesday the arrest of 15 days of the former president of the country pending investigations into allegations of corruption, misuse of authority and the killings of demonstrators, in an unprecedented investigation of a former ruler in the world Arabic.

The announcement was the latest in a series of dramatic events surrounding the probes against the former regime officials, and came hours after former Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak, 82, was hospitalized with heart problems in the resort of Mar Red Sharm el-Sheikh.

Since the overthrow of Mubarak on 11 February on a wave of popular protests, the Egyptians have been calling for the investigation of its ruler for a long time together with many members of his government.

A statement from the attorney general's office announced the arrest of Mubarak was posted on the Facebook social networking site early Wednesday. It said the current research was to allegations of corruption, waste of public funds and abuse of authority for personal gain.

Hours earlier, a separate announcement, Clinton said two children were being interrogated and detained. Mubarak is believed to remain in the hospital during his detention.

"The attorney general ordered the arrest of former President Hosni Mubarak and his sons, Gamal and Alaa for 15 days pending investigation," read the last statement. Facebook page was created as an extension of the Ministry of Justice for families of those killed and injured during the 18 days of protests that toppled Mubarak, in mid-February.
Most senior members of Mubarak's regime are being investigated over allegations of corruption and abuse of authority.

Despite probe, relations between the Egyptian army, who took control after Mubarak was overthrown, and the protest movement have deteriorated in recent weeks. The protesters say the investigations are slow and are outweighed by the abuses of rights by the new rulers.

They have also criticized the army for being too close to the old regime and Mubarak quickly not to prosecute, while hundreds of protesters remain in military prison after a demonstration last month and others were given speedy trials before military courts.

Wael Ghoneim, one of the activists who organized the revolt against Mubarak, which began on January 25 to comment on the arrest of Mubarak with a tweet: "Justice in the action once more."

While the former president was taken to hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh, where he has been living since he was removed from power, his children were taken for questioning to the court by attorneys near Cairo.

An angry crowd of 2,000 people had gathered outside the hospital Tuesday night, demanding the arrest of the children. "Then in the early hours of Wednesday, provincial security chief in South Sinai told the crowd that Gamal and his brother Alaa employers would be arrested.

"Brothers, all I wanted, you have ... 15 days," said Major General Mohammed el-Khatib, as the crowd erupted in cheers.

As a police van with the curtains drawn to the brothers took the crowd threw water bottles, rocks and flip-flops, a lack of respect in the Arab world.

Later, an airport official at the airport of Sharm el-Sheik said the children have been taken on board a private jet to the Torah prison on the outskirts of Cairo. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The growing role of Gamal Mubarak in the government during the last decade and a belief that would succeed his father helped fuel the protest movement in Egypt.

Hundreds are estimated to have died during the protests when police opened fire and suppressed the crowd. Officials that the number of protesters killed during the uprising of 365, but human rights activists and others have said the figure is much higher. According to a count by the Front for the Defence of Egyptian protesters, a group that provides medical and legal assistance to the demonstrators, killing 685 people from March 7.

The authorities are now investigating government officials for his role in ordering the violence.

Gamal is also seen as the architect of the privatization program in Egypt and the economic liberalization that has brought billions in foreign investment but has also widened the gap between rich and poor.

Many of his relatives were billionaires and held top positions in the ruling party and government. There are accusations that used their positions for personal gain.

Mubarak arrived Tuesday night under heavy police protection to the main hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh and left his armored Mercedes without help before being taken to the presidential suite in the pyramid-shaped building, doctors and security officials in the hospital, who also spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Shortly after hospitalization and a sign that your condition can not be serious, Justice Minister Mohamed El-Guindi, Mubarak said he was questioned after a whole for their role in violence against the demonstrators. The Facebook ministry statement said Mubarak's lawyers and a medical team were present during the interrogation.

The investigation into allegations of corruption would be carried out later by the Ministry of Justice Department corruption, he added.

The protest movement that toppled Mubarak had pushed far to appear in court for what they say are decades of abuse.

For four days since last Friday, protesters reoccupied parts of the Cairo Tahrir Square in the center and closed to traffic. The efforts of the army to evict Saturday resulted in at least one dead and dozens injured and raised tensions between protesters and the country's military rulers.

On Tuesday, a scuffle broke out when some residents tried to break the four-day sit-in, removing barbed wire and barricades. The army moved and took control of the square and sealed off the roundabout, once covered with grass that had been the focus of many demonstrations.

Mubarak has a history of minor ailments and underwent gallbladder surgery in Germany in March last year. It has kept a low profile since his ouster, living in his compound in Sharm el-Sheikh. Travel was banned and its assets have been frozen. Many of his top aides have been questioned or detained or pending investigations.

But on Sunday, Mubarak defended himself in a prerecorded message saying he had not abused his authority, and the researchers were welcome to check on their heritage.

It was his first speech to the people in the two months since his ouster. Shortly thereafter, the Attorney General issued a subpoena to appear Mubarak, for questioning.

Obama First To Put Tax Increases In The Budget Table

WASHINGTON - Higher taxes have been absent from the fierce battle that nearly ended budget federal government. But President Barack Obama is about to put on the table - at least a modest version that had driven before and then rested on the shelf.

Most economists and budget analysts say a comprehensive mix of spending cuts and tax increases is essential to any viable plan for deficit reduction. However, few players in the negotiations have gone there.

It comes in the fight to pay attention to what is widely seen as a cry for voters to slam the brakes on government spending out of control. There has been no corresponding public demand to increase taxes. That is not surprising, but the top bracket tax rate in the U.S. Now is the lowest it has been in recent decades and is much lower than many other industrialized countries, especially in western Europe.

Tax elements of Obama's comprehensive plan for deficit reduction, which is fixed in a speech on Wednesday, seems likely to revive its earlier proposals.

The president is expected to bring back its recommendation for the first time in the 2008 campaign to end the Bush-era cuts taxes for families earning over $ 250,000 a year. He temporarily set aside when in late 2010 signed an agreement with Republicans to extend Bush's tax cuts for two years.

However, the offer was renewed earlier this year in its budget for fiscal 2012 which begins October 1.

Any comprehensive plan for deficit reduction should include a combination of spending cuts and tax increases, experts say both sides of the political spectrum.

"There is no alternative, and do not know anyone who has seriously looked at this problem thinks there is," said William A. Galston, advisor to the White House, national politics during the Clinton administration. "You will need to assemble packages of hard programmatic cuts and increased revenues."

With presidential elections just around the corner, and voters are demanding cuts in government spending, some politicians seem willing to go out on a limb higher taxes.

Even Obama's attempt to end the Bush cuts taxes for the wealthiest Americans - bitter by the Republicans - just take the tax rates back where they were in the 1990's, a decade of strong growth economic.

A radical proposal introduced by Republican House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin proposes to cut more than $ 5 trillion deficit over the next decade, but almost exclusively on the expenditure side of the book, including a drastic restructuring Medicare and other federal safety net-welfare programs.

Ryan's plan proposed not only major new tax increases, which advocates reducing the higher tax rates for both companies and individuals to 25 percent from the current 35 percent.

This comes amid revelations of lower tax payments by some of the largest companies in the country, as General Electric Co., which earned $ 14.2 billion in revenue worldwide last year, but did not pay U.S. corporate taxes. UU. in 2010.

"We strongly disagree with the lack of balance in the approach of the Congress of Ryan," said White House spokesman Jay Carney Monday. "We understand that people will come to the table with different points of view, but the president believes that we must have balance."

strong pressure from the tea party wing of the Republican Party, with its emphasis on smaller government and strong opposition to new taxes, has complicated the efforts of Republican leaders, especially House of Representatives, John Boehner, of Ohio, to find common ground with the White House.

Democrats are not exactly clamoring to raise taxes now, too. Not to approach national elections and a fickle electorate satisfied with the level of federal spending.

Obama's proposal for the Bush tax cuts expire for families earning more than $ 250,000 or individuals earning more than $ 200,000 are woven into the next presidential election. By emphasizing that now, rather than later, Obama, but said that all the results.

Obama is also expected to call other changes in the tax code, which holds benefits the rich.

"All over the federal government has to be seen here," White House adviser David Plouffe senior, said. "Revenues will have to be part of it." "Income" has always been the Washington code for more taxes.

The bipartisan deficit reduction appointed by Obama, led by Democrat Erskine Bowles and Republican Alan Simpson, called last year to cut about $ 4 billion budget deficit over the next decade.

Approximately two thirds of those who come through program cuts and a third through higher taxes. Although the overall tax rates would fall, dozens of popular tax cuts would be reduced or eliminated, including the child tax credit, the mortgage interest deduction and the deduction for employers who offer health insurance.

Obama praised the panel for their work, but adopted some of its recommendations, and none of the most important in the new tax.

Almost simultaneously, another bipartisan group led by Republican Pete V. Domenici and Democrat Alice Rivlin out with his own plan to go even further - get about half the deficit reduction of tax increases and half of the spending cuts.

Rivlin, former Federal Reserve vice president and budget director in the Clinton administration, says there is no other way than a mixture. "There can be all on the expenditure side," he said.

Panel to recommend tax increases have not fared very well. S When President George W. Bush, the commission's review of the tax code, chaired by former Republican Senator Connie Mack of Florida, recommended large cuts in valued mortgage deduction and other popular tax benefits in 2005, Bush gave him a cold shoulder.

Since the Democratic presidential candidate Walter Mondale in 1984 famously said that, if elected, reluctantly to raise taxes - and quickly got a beating in the collapse of President Ronald Reagan's reelection - defending the tax increase has been dangerous territory for politicians of all colors.

Reagan's "supply side" economics, the idea that tax cuts can pay for themselves and that the tax cut means higher income, remains a Republican gospel. Never mind that few economists integrate fully subscribe to this theory, or that Reagan proposed tax increases in each of his eight years in office, except the first.

"It has gotten much worse since then," said Bruce Bartlett, a domestic policy adviser Reagan and a Treasury official under President George HW Bush. Bartlett cited the growing influence of the implacable anti-tax advocates like Americans for Tax Reform and some within the protest movement.

Bartlett said he is "enough of a libertarian" to hope that the nation's budget woes could actually be solved by spending cuts alone. "But I do not see how that is humanly possible, given the aging of our society, the wars we are involved and various other things."

deficit budget this year is expected to be a record U.S. $ 1.6 billion. But that's only for one year. Added to the deficits of previous years, bringing the national debt to a shade under $ 14300000000000. Annual deficits are expected to decline in the economy recover from its worst recession since the 1930's, but then rise again as millions of baby boomers qualify for the government of the Social Security and Medicare benefits.

The Debate Was Stirred First Major Oil Sands Mine U.S.

SALT LAKE CITY - Beneath the lush rolling hills, green eastern Utah Uinta Basin, where people are moose, bears and bison outnumbered, the soil is saturated with a sticky tar that could soon provide a new domestic source of oil for States together.

It would be a first of its kind project in the country that some fear could be a slippery slope to widespread destruction desert.
With oil prices rising beyond $ 100 a barrel, and politicians preaching the need to reduce U.S. dependence on foreign supplies, companies are now looking for more local sources.

A Canadian company says is found in the tar sands of Utah Book Cliffs.
Alberta-based Earth Energy Resources Inc. intends to begin a 62-acre mine near here to produce bitumen, a tar-like form of petroleum, oil-soaked sands. For decades, the other operators of Utah's oil sands have been used as asphalt a poor man, and Canada has drained the oil from the earth for years, but nobody has tried to produce oil from U.S. territory on the scale.

And it could be just the beginning. The company has more than 7,800 acres of Utah land on lease, with plans to acquire more, and estimates of its current holdings contain over 250 billion barrels of recoverable oil.

"This is not just a 62-acre project that will last seven years. We are looking for one 30. 000 hectares that destroy the environment in this area for many years, "said John Weisheit, Colorado River guide and founder of the Moab, Rivers environmental group based in Utah life.

Weisheit concerns that myopia and the rush to feed the insatiable appetite of U.S. oil could overcome reason at the expense of other precious natural resources. The Bureau of Land Management says that Utah has an estimated 12 to 19 billion barrels of oil buried in its tar sands, especially in the eastern part of the state, although not all that accessible.

Weisheit said that if the Earth's energy is allowed to mine the land, fearing that others can not be far behind. "We used to hear that it is not profitable to extract oil from tar sands unless oil prices were above $ 60 a barrel," he said. "But now that prices have risen, we are definitely seeing companies take advantage of the situation."

Living Rivers is challenging the approval of this project and argues that it would dig the fragile topsoil, destroy limestone plateaus formed during thousands of years and pollute downstream groundwater flows into the Colorado River. The group says the Utah Division of Water Quality does not accurately assess the potential for widespread environmental damage the mine PR Springs. A hearing is scheduled for May 25.

While tar sands projects are relatively new in the U.S., Canada has been a major producer for years, and in doing so has become the No. 1 foreign supplier of oil to the U.S.. extensive Alberta oil sands deposits are second largest reserves of oil in the world outside Saudi Arabia. The region produces about 1.2 million barrels of oil per day, with approximately 174 billion barrels in reserve. But it has a cost. Oil sands, including extraction and processing, are responsible for up to 4 percent of emissions of greenhouse gases in Canada, and is expected to triple to 12 percent in 2020.

Unconventional oil - petroleum in any other form of liquid - has been targeted by the industry for years, but largely not considered economically viable until recently. The main source of unconventional oil in the U.S. Slate is a rock with all the necessary ingredients that it was buried under the right conditions for oil production.

But everything is getting a fresh look now and untapped reserves are being seen as part of future domestic supplies.
And while companies are still determining if the production of slate makes economic sense, at the height of the oil sands of Canada has raised eyebrows and open folders.

In general, oil from oil sand costs about $ 20 a barrel to produce, a few dollars more than pumping liquid oil.
The first mine in Utah, would be the first commercial effort Tierra Energy in extracting oil from the sands. It is unclear why the company chose Utah, instead of staying close to home, where oil sands are abundant. The company declined to say, but officials insist the project will not pollute anything and leave Utah oil sands as clean as the beach sand after transformation with a citrus-based solvent.

"We are ensuring that they are not contaminated with regulatory compliance as indicated in the draft be approved," the company said CFO Glen Snarr.
Environmentalists are not buying and do not want to be part of it in this country. They have been fighting a proposed pipeline 1,900 miles by another Canadian company that will carry oil extracted from Alberta's oil sands to refineries in Texas.

The Keystone XL pipeline would double the capacity of an existing pipeline in Canada, delivering more than 500,000 barrels a day. According to a report commissioned by the Obama administration, the pipeline, along with a reduction in global oil demand in the U.S., "essentially could eliminate oil imports from the Middle East in the long term."
Susan Casey-Lefkowitz, director of the International Program of the Natural Resources Defense Council, said that the rewards just are not worth the risks. "Refining oil (from tar sands) generates more greenhouse gases than conventional oil,"said Casey-Lefkowitz."

With projects like Keystone, we have concerns, such as plumbing leaks due to the corrosive nature of the bitumen and high temperatures which would be transported."
Oil sand is black as tar mixed with sand and clay. The reserves are located in Utah and some other U.S. states, but the United States' neighbor to the north, with much larger deposits of the continent.

And while most of the oil sands are easily available for open pit mining similar to the excavation of coal, which separates the oil from the sand has a lot of water and energy. In Canada, there is even talk of building a nuclear power plant just to supply the industry, a move that conservationists have been fighting.
Environmentalists in the U.S. they do not want to see a Canadian-style oil industry arenas crop here, and they worry that the water pollution generated in the process might poison ground water and wildlife in the region. In 2008, more than 1,600 ducks died after landing in a toxic tailings pond in northern Alberta that contained the pollution generated in the process of separating oil from sand. Dozens of such toxic pools have been building over 40 years in the region.

Earth Energy says it will deploy a "revolutionary" new extraction process in Utah with a citrus-based solvent that "leaves no toxic chemicals" or the need for retention ponds, making sure not to harm wildlife and other natural resources. But environmentalists believe that the fight against the proposed open pit mining could cause as much damage. Rob Dubuc, a lawyer working with the rivers of life, said the group is concerned about the pollution of groundwater and downstream. "... The rain washes the pollution of the sand in the soil more porous soil and contaminate groundwater," said Weisheit.

State Division of Water Quality has not yet responded to the call of the group. But Rob Herbert, manager of Unit Water Protection Agency, said the project qualifies for a permit, in large part because of the citrus-based solvents, the company says it will use. He said the area also lacks substantial groundwater, which means it would be little risk of contamination of the aquifer.

"They are still required to protect groundwater and the Earth does not relieve the energy resources of that responsibility," said Herbert.
In the end, despite all the debate, experts say projects like the Utah mine project are an afterthought when it comes to meeting U.S. demand for oil.

"If this project produces only 2,000 barrels of oil a day, is irrelevant in terms of the 19 million barrels the U.S. consumes daily. It is not contributing anything to the national security," said Richard Fineberg, an analyst Ester pipe, based in Alaska Research Associates. "With the cost, energy and quantity of water used does not seem economically viable, while investment in alternative energy conservation and renewable every year."

Japan Shaken By The Earthquake After More Evacuations Urged

SENDAI, Japan - A strong earthquake shook northeastern Japan on Monday again that the government urged more people living near a nuclear plant halted by the tsunami to leave, citing concerns about the health risks of long-term radiation.

The 7.0 magnitude aftershock that some people trapped in collapsed houses, came just hours after residents dropped his head and wept in the ceremonies to mark one month since an earthquake and tsunami killed 25,000 people and set radiation leaks at nuclear plant annulment of their refrigeration systems.

"Even after a month, still cry when I watch the news," said Marina Seito, 19, a college student, who recalled that in a basement restaurant in Sendai when the original quake 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck on 11 March. The plates were dropped and parts of the roof collapsed around him.

Officials said Monday's reply has not affected operations at the complex flooded by the tsunami in Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear, where energy is cut, but quickly restored. The epicenter was just inside and about 100 miles (160 kilometers) north of Tokyo.

But a nuclear safety officer, said strong aftershocks repeated - another earthquake hit last Thursday - were reducing the work on the ground, and said that if one of them to generate a tsunami, the complex would be as vulnerable as 11 March.

"So far, no resistance of the tsunami has been added to the plant. At the moment, there is nothing we can do about it," said Hidehiko Nishiyama of nuclear weapons in Japan and Industrial Safety Agency.

With the drag crisis, residents of five communities, some of them over 20 miles (30 kilometers) from the plant were urged to evacuate within a month due to high levels of radiation, the Cabinet Secretary said Yukio Edan reporters. People living in one of the 12 miles (20 km) radius around the plant have been evacuated.

"This is not an emergency measure that people have to evacuate immediately," he said. "We chose this measure on the basis of the risks of long-term health."

Edan sounded a serious note, acknowledging that "the nuclear accident has not been stabilized" and that "we can not deny the possibility that the situation could worsen."

The last earthquake frightened the people once more in a disaster tired of northeastern Japan. Customers in a large electronics store in Sendai screamed and ran and grabbed the mothers to their children.

In Iwaki, a city near the epicenter of the quake, three houses collapsed and up to seven people believed trapped inside. Two of them were rescued later, city fire department spokesman said Takumi Namoto. His condition, and the fate of others is not immediately known.

Japanese officials said the quake had a magnitude of 7.0, but the U.S. Geological Survey said measured 6.6.

With workers still far from bringing the plant in Fukushima Dai-ichi under control, the bodies of thousands of tsunami victims has not yet been found and more than 150,000 people living in shelters, on Monday there was little time for reflection on Japan's worst disaster since the Second World War.

People in the affected cities met to the ceremonies in hours 2:46, the exact time the earthquake the previous month.

"My chest has been torn by the suffering and pain that this disaster has caused people in our prefecture," said Yuhei Sato, the governor of Fukushima, who saw their coastal areas devastated by the tsunami and is home to the plant damaged in the center of the nuclear crisis. "I have no words to express my sorrow."

In a neighborhood devastated the coast of the town of Natori, three dozen firefighters and soldiers took off their hats and helmets, and they shook hands on a small hill that has become a monument to the dead. Previously, four monks in pointy hats rang a bell of prayer should be chanted for the dead.

The noise of construction equipment noise stopped briefly as crane operators were out of their cars and head down.

In the industrial city of Kamaishi, Iwate Governor Takuya Tasso was a moment of commemoration as a siren sounded loud through a high school gym is used as a shelter. He bowed while people who have lived there since the tsunami makeshift futon knelt, bowed his head and clasped hands.

school students return to classes Tuesday despite 129 people living in the gym. Some, like 16 years old, Keisuke Shirato, wearing his baseball uniform for Monday's ceremony. Shirato family was not affected by the tsunami, but half of his comrades lost their homes.

"A new school year begins tomorrow," Shirato said. "I hope this will help us give hope to the people and allow them to look toward a new beginning."

The earthquake and tsunami flattened communities along hundreds of kilometers (miles) of coastline, causing what the government estimates could be as much as 310 billion U.S. dollars in damages. Some 250,000 are without power, although some of them because of the last two earthquakes Monday and Thursday.

Adding to the misery is the radiation spewing from the complex of Dai-ichi Fukushima, 140 miles (220 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo. The 70,000 to 80,000 people living within 12 miles (20 kilometers) of the plant should stay away from their homes indefinitely.

"We have no future plans. We can not even begin to think about it because we do not know how long or how long they have to stay in these shelters," said Atsushi Yanai, a construction worker 55 years of age. The tsunami spared their house, but he has to live in a shelter anyway because it is in the evacuation zone.

Plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co., said its president, Masataka Shimizu, went to Fukushima Prefecture Monday to relay his thanks and apologies. Shimizu recently spent eight days in the hospital with dizziness and high blood pressure, but has since returned to work.

Shimizu told reporters in Fukushima that people living near the plant are "suffering both physically and mentally due to radiation leakage accident nuclear

"We apologize for this," he said.

TEPCO's headquarters in Tokyo, hundreds of employees wished for a moment of silence at 2:46.

Government of Japan marked the period of one month, placing an advertisement in newspapers in China, South Korea, Russia, France, the United Kingdom and the United States - a letter from Prime Minister Naoto Kan thanking people for the great support following the tsunami. The Red Cross said it has collected only 107 million U.S. dollars (9.1 billion yen) from abroad.

Khan described the outpouring of "Kizuna", the bond of friendship.

"We deeply appreciate the kizuna our friends around the world have shown and I want to thank all the nations, entities, and you personally, from the bottom of my heart."

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The team led by the "King of Good Times' Vijay Mallya, had Bollywood actresses Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone as brand ambassadors of the team along the southern star Ramya and Upendra. Katrina Kaif, however, ceased to be ambassador the brand of equipment due to his busy schedule. In his absence, we hope that Deepika assume as the face of the team.

Delhi Daredevils

Delhi has the original child Khiladi representing his team in the IPL. In Akki, supporters of the team in New Delhi have found a suitable ambassador as he is from Delhi and hence the ability to interact with it is more for the fans.

Mumbai Indians

Bollywood biggies like Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor were seen encouraging the team during tournaments. The four brand ambassadors succeeded in added glamor and entertainment during games.

Deccan Chargers

Deccan Chargers Saina Nehwal signed on as brand ambassador in the beginning. Now that she has mOPV the baton with his fantastic game-play, that will inspire the players.

Rajasthan Royals

With Shilpa Shetty as the owner, who needs a brand ambassador? However, the creature Shetty is not the only team in the promotion of Ila Arun is also the brand ambassador of the team.

Kings XI Punjab

Preity Zinta also shares the same story that Shilpa Shetty, if the co-owner of his team. While Preity is doing everything possible to popularize your computer, brand ambassador, Daler Mehndi evokes the spirit of Punjab in the followers.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Shah Rukh Khan rudders team and does everything else to ensure that your team remains No. 1 on the popularity list. The brand ambassadors of the team are close friends Arjun Rampal, Juhi Chawla, Sajid Khan and Farah. and himself.

Chennai Super Kings

The team was not the way to Bollywood when choosing a brand ambassador. They went to the south of stars Vijay, Nayantara with Srikkanth. Srikkanth is no longer the ambassador of the team on his contract expired, was fired for faking Nayantara and Vijay disease was found lethargic. I wonder who the new brand ambassador will be.

The Price Of A Government Shutdown

So if the federal government shuts down, taxpayers would save a lot of money, right?

Not quite.

In fact, it would cost taxpayers money. And for every day the closure continues, the bill would go up.

"There is absolutely no way that saves money. Postal," said Bo Cutter, a former director of the National Economic Council and a senior fellow at the Roosevelt Institute.

It is very difficult to put an exact price of a closure. Official estimates of the costs incurred during the recent closures of major in 1995 and 1996 vary widely.

And the White House has not provided an estimate of how much could cost a close, but does say it will cost something.

First, the government actually has to spend money to complete an orderly shutdown.

"When you have to close something down, it costs money, and ramp back up something costs money," said Jeffrey Zients, deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget Thursday.

Imagine a government construction project. Since it is impossible to know how long the closure, workers are forced to take down all operations and ensure the workplace. That all costs money.

It is a process that is repeated throughout the country, and every government agency. In addition, more funding is restored, it will cost money for the project back up to speed.

Meanwhile, costs will increase the longer shutdown is extended.

"The longer the closure is in place, the largest costs become," said John F. Cooney, a partner at Venable law firm who designed the closure plans for the government while employed at the Office of Management and Budget.

There is also the issue of pay of federal workers.

When the clock strikes midnight and starts a stop payment checks to ensure that federal workers. But that will not be saving taxpayers money.

When a close finish after Congress approved a spending bill, the "essential" workers remained in the job automatically be paid for time worked during the closure.

And the roughly 800,000 workers could be fired? At each end of the previous government, Congress has authorized the retroactive payment for them too, even for days not worked. One caveat: There is no guarantee it will happen again.

But if you do, be a double whammy. The workers receive their paychecks, but the work they normally have accumulated in the meantime. When workers return, the agencies may have to pay overtime only to catch up with all the work was not done at closing.

And not just the government to end with a larger bill, the less income as well.

Some agencies - such as the National Park Service - Fees charges. When closed, no fees are collected. On an average day, visitors spent $ 32 million National Parks.

There are also intangible costs, especially when the productivity of federal workers is considered.

"You've been working your ass ... and someone comes to tell you that are not essential?" Cutter said. "There is a problem of enormous moral management when everyone returns to work."

Of course, when the closure is considered in the context of larger budget negotiations, the process is almost certainly a savings to taxpayers. That's because both Democrats and Republicans agree that a compromise spending bill would cut tens of billions of federal budget.

India: A Global Power In The Making

India shines again and not just the cricket team that is making waves around the world. The G-20 has predicted that India will be one of the 10 largest members of the IMF and its position in the Fund improve the eighth position of the current number 11 in terms of share.

Leaders from around the world is all set to play in the U.S. later this year by the prestigious Wharton meeting of the India Economic Forum to discuss how India is positioned to compete and succeed in the rapidly changing global environment. The conference theme this year is India Gaining Momentum'':''. With an economy that is growing more than 8%, it is not surprising.

The country is an emerging world power. R Seetharaman, CEO of Doha Bank in Qatar, said that "India will become a more sustainable economies in the future and for the year 2030, the economy of Asia - mainly comprising India and China - will be larger than the U.S. and the European Union combined. "Seetharaman said the world has witnessed India and China emerging as major contributors to the global economic recovery from a crisis situation.

Another point to note here is that the Sensex crossed the 20,000 mark as expected. Indices of India defied all world markets and held its strength through the disaster in Japan and the crisis of Libya. Exports have also made much progress.

So what is contributing to the phenomenal growth story of India?

• Young people
• An educated society
• High consumption
• Investments
• Grass Roots Entrepreneurship

India's Gen Y is their best asset, and will be the largest contributor to growth in India. In the next two decades, added more than 200 million people of working age - between 18 and 60 years - population. More than any other country in the world.

For India, more workers means more revenue. More revenue means a more prosperous nation. For a country that will become a middle income country - per capita annual salaries of $ 1.200, resulting in 4,500 rupees a month - at the end of 2010/11, after more than a century of hardship, population Young presents an unprecedented opportunity for transition.

Now if only we elect the right leaders, we must not stop India from being the next superpower.

Eight deadly sins of investment

"Most time shares are subject to price fluctuations irrational and excessive in both directions because of the ingrained tendency of most people to speculate or play ... to give way to hope, fear and greed. "

-Benjamin Graham, U.S. economist and professional investors

In order foundations

In a hurry to make fast money market, retail investors tend to overlook the fundamentals of the company you are thinking of investing in it Some investors buy stocks with no spare time to gather basic information about the company, as important product or service the company sells and the likely future of that business.

"Retail investors are driven by optimistic discourse of management, interim expansion plans and are always skewed towards short-term game, not wanting to lose the current increase in the share price," says Hemindra Hazari, head of research, Karvy Stock broking.

Investors should look at companies that have consistently delivered earnings growth and good corporate governance. Never invest in a company without understanding the dynamics of the business.

Cheap, but expensive

A successful investor looking for bargain stocks, which are available at prices below their value and have strong growth potential. Newbie investors often misunderstood gold this strategy as "cheap" to buy shares of large percentage gains.

Suppose you can buy a dozen eggs for the R 36, while the rotten eggs are available for only R 3 per dozen. If you have R 3 in his wallet, he buys a fresh egg or a dozen rotten?

"Retail investors look at the share prices of stocks. They tend to buy cheap shares, which can not be very valuable," says Sarabjit Nangra Koura, Vice President of Research, Angel Broking.

The return on investment in shares do not depend on the number of shares, but the performance of the company. You have a greater chance of making a profit by buying only a portion of a first-order company instead of buying thousands of penny stocks.

Shortsighted

Small investors often seek short-term gains. If you want to make a quick profit in stocks, you must have the ability to time the stock market. Stock prices fluctuate wildly over short periods. Your profit or loss depends on its ability to close the deal in time. Due to the turbulent nature of the securities markets, it is difficult to make profits in short periods of time.

"Small investors are excluded during the phases of an uptrend or in times of short-term surges. Retail Investors should assess their appetite for risk and take a long-term," says Hazari. The stock market almost always gives a positive return over the long term, in this case a time horizon of at least three or more years will be more cautious.

Also, when you stay invested in a population of more than a year, the taxman does not come knocking for his role in the outcome. Income from stocks over a year a capital gain in the long run, that does not attract any tax. For investments of less than one year, you have to pay capital gains in the short term.

Ignoring a portfolio

You must have heard stories about investors who bought shares in a company, he forgot them and after a decade or so found that had become a fortune. While this is an example of how the long-term investment is profitable, not the best.

If you are among those who think long-term investing means buying stocks at low prices and forget about them, is taking a huge risk. The economic and market situation is very dynamic. Apart from global and local policies and macroeconomic factors, there may be changes in business strategies or management.

An investor should review your portfolio at regular intervals. If the prospects of a better society, or at least stable, you should buy or keep stock. When the assumptions on which the shares purchased are no longer true, it might be time to download.

Unwillingness Paper losses

Investors enthusiastically collect small gains retail investment, but often are reluctant to book losses on stocks that are collapsing. Even if stock prices continue to fall, they continue to hold in the hope that the population will recover and make a profit at some point. This often results in major losses for investors.

When prices fall, some investors buy more shares in an attempt to reduce the average cost of your portfolio. Buy on dips is recommended, but only when the decline is due to a temporary setback and growth prospects remain positive.

"Retail investors must make an average of every second action unless they have a thorough knowledge of the company. You must try to explore the reasons for its poor performance. Average is not a tool to minimize the losses, but should be treated as a means of maximizing "says Hazari.

By investing in a stock, you must also set a stop-loss order for it. When the stock price falls to the stop-loss level, the broker will sell. If you set a stop-loss order at 10% below its purchase price, your loss is limited to 10%.

Entry into Peaks Sale in minimum

The stock market always overreacts to news, either as you climb. Ideally, the stock price should be proportional to capital and earnings prospects of the company. However, there is a share-marketfrenzy generally overpriced or underpriced.

In a bull market, investors tend to invest in stocks expensive because everyone is buying. Become too optimistic and expect stock prices to continue rising. By contrast, in a bear market, investors tend to be pessimistic and sell shares when they should be buying.

Stock markets tend to make decisions in the short run wild, but they behave rationally in the long term. Successful investors always base their investment decisions on stock value "in itself and the hunt for bargain stocks. They're going to buy shares in a company with a solid foundation when it is beaten in the market and sell when prices rise.

After Tips

Thanks to higher-priced messages that you have received SMS messages turning on a "golden opportunity to earn huge profits. If you have acted on any of these tips, you've probably lost some money. If not, you've done well to stay away from such unsolicited emails and messages.

Even solicited tips can hurt you. If you try to find tips on Internet commerce, getting lots of websites and blogs that offer free advice. Do not take advice on these sites as gospel. It is equally dangerous to buy stocks because a friend told him "your money will double in six months." Stock tips from analysts published in newspapers or broadcast on television should also be scrutinized.

Always perform due diligence before placing an order with your broker.

Let your broker

If you just sign the forms in the instructions for your agent and allow you to buy and sell shares on their behalf, will be ready for some scares. Unscrupulous agents often use this opportunity to customers' money misuse. "

Brokers do not receive a commission on the profits you earn, but are paid by the volume of trade. There have been cases of agents with money from investors to trade intra-day without the consent of investors. When you get a statement from your broker, you may see your portfolio losses carry a large amount paid to the brokers.
